Dogra Sadar Sabha Pays Rich Tributes to the Great Maharaja
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a virtual meeting of its core group today the 23rd September, 2020 at Sabha Bhawan Jammu to pay tributes to revered Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on his birth anniversary. The meeting convened by the DSS president Th. Gulchain Singh Charak recalled various instances from the distinguished life of the Maharaja and the many reforms made by him as a forward looking ruler for whom the religion was justice to his people. He gave the J&K state strides of modernization like compulsory education, girl education, eradicating un-touch ability and the ‘Sati Pratha’.
Members pointed out that the UT government is yet silent over popular demand of declaring a holiday on the Maharaja’s Birth anniversary. However they welcomed the parliamentary passage of inclusion of Dogri, Kashmiri and Hindi among official languages of the J&K UT. Inclusion of Dogri is of special significance for DSS who are behind many years of struggle to get Dogri included in the 8th Schedule. It is also a tribute to the secular ethos of the Maharaja which got eroded over 53 years culminating in exodus of KPs and others from the valley and thereafter. The DSS members also look forward for the restoration of the J&K statehood as the PoJK areas under Pakistan’s illegal occupation are librated to rejoin the main land of J&K. PoJK population who are mainly Dogra Muslims are keen to revert to their homeland affiliation and are in touch with DSS from wherever they are in PoJK, Gulf or Western countries.
Members also expressed concern over the multiplying drugs menace among the youth exhorting the government for more stringent measures to arrest the trend of drugs peddling. The ever increasing COVID-19 is another big threat facing the UT and the Jammu region is worst affected now. There is a failure on the part of people and maintaining the social distancing as well in keeping indoors. DSS called upon the government to keep the medical facilities at pace with the ever increasing number of Carona cases in the UT.
Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, VrC along with other members in one voice expressed their solidarity with the government and its forces when the nation is committed on the war front facing two exterior enemies and China sent Biological warfare ‘Corona’ and the Hybrid psychological warfare from within. He cautioned the nationals to be alert and not to fall prey to any adverse propaganda that can distract the united war effort of our three valiant forces and extend all support to the front line soldiers and the security forces committed to duties on the second and third lines of defence.
Prominent among others who expressed their views in the meeting were Col. Karan Singh Jamwal , Prem Sagar Gupta, Brig M. S. Jamwal, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Janak Khajuria, Sdr. Kulbir Singh, Amanat Ali Shah, Chhankar Singh, Dr. Raghubir Singh and Sdr. Balwinder Singh.
