Sh Farooq Khan Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor J&K hailed Maharaja Hari Singh’s Reforms at Samajik Nyaya Diwas on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary on 23rd September 2021. Speaking on the occasion, where he was the Chief Guest he congratulated Dogra Sadar Sabha celebrated the birth day of Late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji and appealed people at large to work for promotion of Dogri Language, Culture and Rich Heritage of this Duggar Land.
A colourful cultural programme was presented in the function which included Dogri Song by Dogra Degree College Bari Brahmana and a Dogri item presented by Rich Harvest School Bari Brahmana. A Cultural item was presented by famous musician Sh. Ravi Ji and a Dogri Bakh- by renowned Dogri singer Mrs. Asha Kesar. The cultural programme was coordinated by Sh. Janak Khajuria.
Earlier Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister, and President, Dogra Sadar Sabha, J&K, said that Maharaja Hari Singh’s declaration in his coronation speech, to provide Justice to all irrespective of caste, creed or faith, which was subsequently backed by the reforms and the legal framework for Social Justice introduced by him was a sterling testimony to his people centric ideology and policies which are remembered by the people in all parts of the erstwhile Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir to this day. He allowed Dalits in temples by personally doing kanya poojan of dalit girls in Raghunath Temple. He also strengthened the Educational and Health infrastructure in the erstwhile Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sh Charak also thanked the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Sh Manoj Sinha for setting at rest all issues on Durbar move by announcing that the Secretariat will function round the year at both Jammu and Srinagar. He also demanded that the work on the comprehensive conservation and adaptive reuse plan of Mubarak Mandi be expedited so that it can be made functional as a self sustaining Cultural Heritage Centre, in time for the celebrations proposed to be held in connection with the 75 years of India’s Independence in 2022. He also reiterated the demand for maintenance of Jammu’s memorials like the Balidan Stambh, Raja Jambulochan’s memorial and widening of the road in front of the Secretariat and removal of barriers.
In his welcome address Col Karan Singh Jamwal gave a brief overview of the history of the Dogra Sadar Sabha and working of Dogra Sahayata Kendra. Others who spoke on the occasion included Maj. Gen. G.S. Jamwal AVSM, Sh. G.A. Khawaja (Addl. Gen. Sec. DSS), Sh. Ajay Khajuria, Retd DC and Smt Seema Sehgal. Vote of thanks was presented by Sh. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak.
