Dogra Sadar Sabha Khour , a unit of DSS J&K organized a colourful function
to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lt Maharaja Sh Hari Singh Ji as “Samajik
Nayaya Divas”at Khour, Distt. Jammu wherein, besides, large number of
prominent people of the whole border belt, various representatives of Central
Working Committee of DSS J&K participated.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, President DSS, and Former Minister presided
over the function and Lt. Gen R K Sharma (Retd.) , President Ex-Services League
participated as the special Guest .
Paying glowing tributes to the great Maharaja , Sh Charak highlighted his
contributions and achievements and urged the public to carry forward his
message of secularism, gender equation, women education, social reforms
including removal of untouchability and above all justice for all. DSS president also
recalled Maharaja’s famous words, ‘’As a Ruler, I have no religion, All Religions are
mine and my religion is Justice.” He also admired the Maharaja’s timely decision
of accession of J&K state with India like other 563 princely states and appealed to
the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to celebrate the birth anniversary of the
great Maharaja as “Nayaya Divas” by the govt. as state function respecting the
sentiments of whole Dogra race that comprises people from all religious sects,
trades and walks of life.
Offering floral tributes to the Maharaja Hari Singh Ji Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Rakesh
Sharma recalled his speech at the Round Table Conference at London and
described him as nationalist, democratic and secular ruler. Lt Gen Sharma also
shed light on events taking place in 1947-48 when local tribal militia and irregular
Pakistani forces attacked the Valley to capture Srinagar and how Brig. Rajinder
Singh also known as Savior of Kashmir, with hardly 100 Dogra Force jawans
successfully repulsed Pakistani invader’s attack .

The birth anniversary of the Great Maharaja Hari Singh Ji should be
celebrated as a govt. function.
Our heritage is a living history and it cannot be left to the bureaucracy to
distort it. DSS demanded a white paper on it and appeals to Hon’ble Lt.
Governor that no portion of it should be used as commercial, like hotel etc.
Ranbir canal which is a life line of Jammu region and irrigates about 64000
hectare of land which produces world renowned kind of Basmati rice is in
bad shape today. DSS demands its restoration, proper
maintenance,preservation and declaring it as a state heritage.
In the function war veterans and Sr. citizens including Dr. B D Sharma, K P Singh,
Isha Chib, Ragunath Singh, Sardar Singh, Fakir singh, Hakikat Singh, Harnam Dass,
Ex Sarpanch Raju Ram, Capt Karam Singh, Tej Ram , Suram Singh, Rattan Singh,
Capt. Gian Singh, Monu Verma, Sansar Singh and a number media personnels
were honoured.
Prominent among those who Spoke and threw light on the life and times of the
Great Maharaja included Sukhdev Singh, President DSS Khour Unit, Dr. B D
Sharma, Lect. Suraj Singh, K P Singh, Harnam Dass, Isha Chib, Kuldeep Singh and
Karan Singh .
