comprising of Gen. G. S Jamwal, Dr. N. K. Dogra, Col. Karan Singh Jamwal (Retd.), Sh. Chhatter Singh, Sh. Janak Khajuria, Sh. Sudhir Singh Jamwal, Sh. Chhankar Singh, S. Kulwant Singh, S. Kulbir Singh & Jagdeep Singh led by Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak—President DSS today visited Pargwal area and met the family members of late Chamel Singh who was assassinated in Kot Lakhpat Jail of Pakistan.
The delegation asked the State and Central governments to honour the promises made with the members of Chamel Singh’s family.
Speaking on the occasion Charak said that the victim family should be compensated at par with that of late Sarabjit Singh—another Indian killed in the sameinfamous Pak jail.
It is pertinent to mention here that two daughters of late Sarabjit Singh were provided government jobs besides Rs. 1 crore from the Punjab government and Rs. 25 lakh by the then government at centre beside martyr status.
The delegation also asked the union government to fulfill its promise of allotting 5 Marla plots which the BJP had made during the time of elections.
Apart from this, special recruitment drive for the people of border areas was also demanded by the delegation.
Crop Insurance, de-silting of irrigation canals and bridge over the River Chenab to connect Pargwal with Jourian was also demanded.
The delegation expressed concern over the diversion of River Chenab effecting agriculture land and demanded a bund be constructed at the affected place to stop the river diversion.
Earlier the delegation was received by the prominent persons of the whole Pargwal belt under the Aegies of DSS Khaur unit led by its President Sh. Sukhdev Singh.
Prominent among those, who accompanied the delegation and explained the serious problems being faced by the locals were Sh. K.P Singh, Sh. Joginder Singh, Sh. Ludhar Mani Bhagat, Sh. Krishan Singh & Sh. Balwadur Singh.
