The 122nd birthday of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh was celebrated At Khour under the aegis of Dogra Sadar Sabha Shakha-Khour Under the Chairmanship of its President Sh. Sukhdev Singh. Former Minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak President Dogra Sadar Sabha J&K was the Chief Guest while Dr. Krishan Lal MLA Chhamb (Khour) was the Guest of Honour at the Celebration.
In his address Th. Gulchain Singh Charak admired the Maharaja as a charming and handsome ruler who was bold and remarkable sportsman, who was full of patriotism and responsible for the accession of the J & K State with India. His bold Statement in the round table conference in UK was an example of his courageous statesmanship.
The various speakers Paying rich tributes to their beloved Maharaja and admired him as a great social reformer and a forward looking ruler who encouraged education and was thoroughly secular in his outlook and displayed respect for public participation from all communities and sects of the society. They also paid rich tributes to Late Captain Gandharab Singh the Great Dogra of Pargwal (Akhnoor), Late Captain Devan Singh the then Secretary of Great Maharaja and Faiju Pehalwan for their selfless volunteer services to the Society.
Heartfelt SHRADHANJALI was also offered to the Uri martyrs on the occasion and resolved to stand by our Indian troops and offered salutations to their supreme sacrifices. They noted with concern that the State government has not yet announced the Ex-Gratia allowance to the families of the martyred heroes from the State in a blatant contrast to other states of the country who have announced 10 to 20 laks each, which reflected anti-national stance of J&K State government.
Dr. Krishan Lal hon’ble MLA addressing the gathering highlighted the various social reforms undertaken by the Visionary Great Maharaja Hari Singh and appealed the public that they should identify a piece of land to construct a Dogra Bhawan at Khour for which he promised to release the requisite funds out of his C.P.F.
The meeting unanimously resolved to request the national government to scrap the Indus water treaty and no water should be released till Pakistan behaves and save enormous losses to the State over irrigation and Hydel electricity production. While appreciating the release of thousands vacancies of SPOs and other positions to J&K State the meeting expressed that the major share of these should have come to the nationalist Dogras who are always given step motherly treatment and get only crumbs in their share.
Among the important dignitaries who addressed the gathering included S/Sh. Maj. Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal- President J&K Ex- Services league, Prof NK Dogra-Sr.Vice president, Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja Rtd DC-Gen. Secretary DSS , Col. Karan Singh Jamwal (Retd.)- Vice President DSS, Brig MS Jamwal-IC Media Cell, Organising Secretary – KP Singh, Pathan Singh ( Ex. Sarpanch), Rtd. Dy. Director Bharthari Singh, Ludhar Mani Bhagat, Bhod Raj Educationist Retd, Karan Singh, Suraj Singh –lecturer.
In the end Sh. Sukhdev Singh presented the vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the general public for their participation in the celebration and pledged to work whole heartedly for spreading the message of Dogra Sadar Sabha in whole of the border belt.
