A meeting of Dogra Sadar Sabha, J&K jointly with the prominent members of the “Mohalla Sudhar Committee Dogra Hall Jammu” was held at DSS Bhawan on Today the 14th of October 2016 under the chairmanship Th. Gulchain Singh Charak Former Minister & President DSS. All the members present in the meeting strongly objected to the Road Block between Dogra Hall Jammu and Ranvireshwar Shiv temple that is established each time the State Secretariat moves into the summer capital.
The Road Block causes uncalled for and unnecessary hardship to the local population of the area around the secretariat and literally divides the Holy town of temples into two halves. The Road in front of the secretariat is the main artery road running through heart of town. Once closed for six long months, all its traffic gets diverted to the narrow Parade area resulting in persistent traffic jams, accidents and adding to pollution.
It blocks the route to famous and historical Ranvireshwar Shiv temple thus hurting the religious sentiments of the people of this historical city. It also blocks easy access to the historical monument of Raja Jambulochan which is symbolic to the basis of establishing the city of Jammu. The route to historical Raghunath Bazar and the famous Raghunath temple is also cut off, besides, the road leading to the SMGS Hospital, thus adversely affecting pilgrimage, tourism, trade and Health care. Even the Dead bodies from this area are forced to be carried to Jogi Gate walking over a detour of three km by the bereaved families, moaning ladies elders and children.
Some senior Veterans got emotional as they felt that the blockage of their age old passage to temples is un-constitutional and highly discriminatory and suppressive since the road in front of secretariat in Summer Capital is never blocked in a crude contrast, in spite of mostly disturbed conditions and worst law and order scenario in Srinagar town.
The DSS along with the other prominent members of the whole area urged upon the Government that a decision not to block this road of peaceful Jammu city should be taken before the Durbar move or else the members were all geared up to put in stiff resistance and launch a strong agitation to get their fundamental right of passage to the religious places and cremation of their dead. Prominent among those who attended the meeting are S/Sh. Prem Sagar Gupta, Parshotam Thapa, B.D Naryal, N.D Rajwal, Dr. K.K. Gandotra, Sohan Lal Gupta & Ashok Kumar Gupta.,
