A Delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha, J&K (DSS) belonging to various social, trade and religious organizations of the region representing all communities, ethnic groups, trades & belong to various walks of life and professions, led by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak-Former Minister, President of Sabha, called on Hon’ble Governor J&K Shri N.N Vohra. They expressed great concern over the foreigners’ ingress impacting the J&K State.
The delegation brought out that the Jammu region has suffered a lot by the additional migrated populations thrust upon the meager resources. The PoJK migrants, the West Pakistan refugees, the within state migrations from Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtewar, Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh in search of opportunities, jobs/ occupations, education or Medicare impacted the density of population to a saturation. The bigger overflow came with almost 3 /4 lakh KPs, Sikhs and Muslims, brutally pushed out of Kashmir region under death and dishonour. Jammu absorbed them all as ‘Hamare Apne’. Jammu locals are squeezed in our own land for space, jobs, water, electricity, opportunities, education and employments.
Then came in the Biharis, Assamese, the Odisha based Orias, the UP based labour force and the Punjabi technicians and traders. Jammu accommodated them and provided shelters and employments. Closely following came the big inflow of Bangladeshi and now the Burmese (Mayanmar) Rohangiyas.
The last two are not Indians, nor J&K State subjects, but are illegally infiltrated refugees from Bangladesh and Mayanmar. They are mostly from criminal background as per intelligence reports. They are helped by their ethnic NGOs and facilitated by the government machinery on the sly as some have procured Ration/ and Voter cards as accepted by the Chief Minister in the
Legislative Assembly. They pose a looming danger to Jammu region, since they can be’ used’ collectively by those nurturing them at any sensitive time.
So far Jammu region has upheld its unity and secular ethos despite grave disturbances in Kashmir in north and earlier in Punjab in the south. This region of peaceful co-existence is an eyesore to enemy designs and this conspiracy may be a deep-rooted long term plan. They must be removed, pushed back to their own countries or absorbed by the whole country equally.
The Mubarak Mandi complex represents the soul of Dogras’ Heritage of this region. Its dilapidated condition speaks of how mercilessly, it has been ignored to vanish, despite of many tall talks and assurances. The apathy of the bureaucrats and powers that be, have undone all the efforts to repair and revive its pristine glory. DSS have already submitted details in an earlier memorandum.
The Kala Kendra complex has been visited by the non-official members of the Governing Body of Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society and found the place highly unsuitable to contain the eight lakh files and other important documents and pieces of vintage treasure. It appears that the correct details could not be presented to the High Court by the Government, which led to such a decision. This must be stalled immediately and action taken to get the decision reversed. The delegation invited the Governor to visit the Mubarak Mandi complex in near future and direct future course of action. This was agreed upon.
The delegation also projected that the entrance marks for admission to B. Ed courses have been advertised as 40 percent for reserved and 45 percent for general category in Kashmir University. However, in case of Jammu University these are fixed as 45 percent for reserved and 50 percent for general category. There is no reasoning or justification that supports such highly discriminatory, discouraging unjustified decisions; both under your Chancellorship. If not rectified immediately, it will have adverse impact on the Jammu based B. Ed aspirants and many border liners will be left out losing all their chance of further careers in the field of education. We the members of DSS request your immediate indulgence to remove this gross injustice to Jammu based students immediately from this very session, please.
The Governor Shri N.N. Vohra agreed to remove any discrimination which may have occurred due to misinterpretation of orders and assured to resolve it to give equal opportunities to the aspirants students of the whole State.
Members of the delegation included : Dr. N.K Dogra, Sh. Prem Sagar Gupta, Sh. Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja-(DC Retd), Maj Gen GS Jamwal-(Retd), Brid. MS Jamwal-(Retd), Dr Col. Virender Kumar Sahi-(Retd), Sh.
