In view of the ensuing 23rd Pavitar Chhari Mubarak Yatra on the occasion of Chetra Chaturdashi falling on 27th of March, 2017 and followed by a three days fair from 27th of March to 29th March, 2017, a Swachhata Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) was organized at Purmandal, the venue of the holy event, on 25th of March, 2017.
The event was organized with a view to not only clean the Holy Devika and surroundings but also to give a message to the general public to not to pollute the holy Gupt-Ganga which is a sin and always keep it clean. The district administration headed by the District Development Commissioner, Mrs Sheetal Nanda, who personally took part in the cleaning drive, representatives of Purmandal and Utterbehni Shrines, representatives of Shree Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Management Trust Gandhi Nagar and Dogra Sadar Sabha J&K led by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak-Former Minister, President Dogra Sadar Sabha, Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, large number of students of various schools and colleges including NSS group of Dogra Law College also participated in the drive.
All the participants displayed great enthusiasm, devoted dedication and created an atmosphere of spiritual purification. Hundreds of locals joined the holy venture in pure voluntary devotion. Pt Dinanath a local said “this type of cleaning was a cherished desire of all the believers of ‘Bhole Nath’; but needed the initiative of someone to lead us into this. The locals were greatly appreciative of the District Administration and the various social and religious organizations headed by Th.Gulchain Singh Charak for this pious effort assuring full public support for any further such initiatives.
