A special meeting of the core group of All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) was held at the Office of the President Chamber of Traders Federation, Jammu (CTFJ) on today 25th August, 2017 under the AJCSF Convener, Former minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak. All members unanimously condemned the involvement of a few isolated Jammuiets in assisting the terror funding and called it a slur on the clean nationalist ethos of Jammu region. The AJCSF takes a very dim view of any direct/ indirect involvement in any kind of anti-national activity, hawala transactions or conduits to terror funding. AJCSF urged the government to award the severest exemplary punishment under the law of the land to nip the evil in the bud.
The AJCSF reiterated its concern on continued stay of Rhongiyas and Bangladesis as they pose great security risk. Nothing has happened even after instructions from the MHA. The members felt that there was a conspiracy in getting them here all the way to Jammu and a continued hidden agenda to soft peddle the issue and give only lip service instead of any notable action on ground to push them out.
Ex MLC Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal(Retd.), Brig. M. S. Jamwal (Retd.) & Col. Karan Singh Jamwal (Retd.) strongly voiced for abrogation of Article 35 A which has lost its credibility as exposed for being an addition to the constitution on legally unsound footing. Sh. Neeraj Anand president CTF suggested examining the evil impacts of removing Art 35A on Jammu region which may receive maximum migrations under prevailing conditions. Veteran warrior Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, VrC, sought to modify Art 35 A by removing the hurting provisions. He suggested that the discrimination against the women getting married outside the J&K state be removed and their spouse and children be accepted as state subjects as done in case of men getting married outside the state. He also suggested the West Pakistan Refugees and Balmikies born in J&K be granted PRC as natural citizenship by birth in the State. He also suggested that safeguards can always be made with checks and balances to avoid a free rush to J&K that could affect the State’s demography, like in case of some other States in the country.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak while concluding, agreed with the members seeking immediate removal of the toll tax in light of the GST introduction since this double taxation is hurting the consumers in Jammu region. Other points raised in the meeting were, early completion of Tawi Lake project and restoration of heritage Mubarak Mandi Complex.
The meeting was attended by Sh. S. Peter, Sh. Parveen Kumar Gupta, Sh. Dinesh Gupta, Sr. Attar Singh & Sh. Surinder Mahajan.
