The Dogra Sadar Sabha led by their President Th. Gulchain Sigh Charak joined Muslim brethren in lamenting the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and joining lamentation rituals and ‘Tazia’ by paying tributes to the procession at Shaheedi Chowk in heart of Jammu City. He was accompanied by members of Dogra Sadar Sabha, All Jammu Civil Society Forum and prominent citizens from all walks life, trades, communities and sects of society.
The observances of Muharram ceremonies in India, and in particular Jammu region attract the deep reverence and devotion for the performance of its rituals and customs by the Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Thus, the observance of Muharram ceremonies has introduced Islam also among the harbingers for interfaith understanding in India. Imam Husain’s great sacrifice is commemorated by Muslims everywhere in the world, but it is observed with greater importance by Dogras and the prominent participation of Muslims and Non-Muslins alike in these rituals is noteworthy. This has been a feature of Dogriyat for centuries and continues even today. The President Anjuman-e-Imania Shri Amanat Ali Shah and leading Journalist Suhail Qazmi greatly appreciated the gesture of AJCSF and DSS members who paid tributes and took this lead in expressing mutual love and solidarity.
