Shri Khurshid A Ganai, Advisor to Hon’ble Governor J&K Shri Satya Pal Malik; who was on his periodical visit to Jammu was met by a Delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) led by its president and Former Minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak.
The former minister keeping close touch with the people and tours extensively in the interiors apprised the Advisor about the problems faced by the public due to poor road connectivity. He proposed a road to connect Village Dasiani to Jakhenoo some four km on Billawar road. He also projected public demand of a culvert on Kuppar-Baltoa Road in Village Dhamma of Tehsil Majalta.
He apprised Shri Ganai that though a transformer has been placed in Village Jakhenoo but it is not commissioned since there are no poles and structure to fix it, while people are suffering in this heat. He also pointed out that although there is an overhead water storage tank at Jakhenoo, yet the water supply is scanty on weekly basis adding to the sufferings of local population in this agonizing summer.
The delegation welcomed the plan of the tourism department to place buses for the sightseeing by stranded/ waiting pilgrims. However, the members wondered as to how the famous and important pilgrimage site of Purmandal/Utter-behni has been left out in the Sightseeing package. Purmandal/Utter-behni and Gupt Ganga sites are of great religious importance for Shiv worshipers coming for Shri Amarnathji & Mata Vaishno Devi shrines.
Th. Gulchain Singh discussed the ongoing efforts on the heritage site of Mubarak Mandi, shifting of its Archives to old information building and the museum to erstwhile Army Headquarters building. After deliberations the Advisor promptly planned his visit to the site same day and convened a meeting of concerned staff and agencies on spot after such a request was made by the delegation.
The delay in issue of notification for the Economically Weak Section (EWS) being considered for counseling by BOPEE also came up in discussion which has direct impact on the NEET aspirants of the J&K State from 2019 batch. Explaining the procedure Shri Khurshid ensured early action.
The Advisor Shri Khurshid A Ganai took keen interest in the deliberations of each point and expressed his willingness to visit the Majalta areas as suggested by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak.
The delegation included Col. Karan Singh Jamwal, Col. Dr Virendra K. Sahi, VrC, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Brig M. S. Jamwal, and Vidya Sagar Sharma.
