About Us – Dogra Sadar Sabha

During the period of turmoil and turbulences,dogra sadar sabha j&k held mass contacts,public meetings,
social and cultural functions with sole mission of inculcating communal harmony and working
concertedly to subvert nefarious activities of inimical to ensure their alround peace, progress and
development.
During the peak days of militancy, 1990-91. President of the sabha organized the tour of the readers, to
the vulnerable areas of rajouri and poonch and succeeded in turning the tide and winning the public to
support the national cause and as well changed mind set of hardcore militants who joined the national
mainstream and are still upholding the national flag.
President sh. Gulchain singh charak personally alongwith president muslim federation jammu visited the
secessionist leaders of Kashmir and interested with the individually and collected to know their mind
and the way ahead during the height of militancy. They even visited jammu to interest with other
members of dogra sadar sabha & members of civil society. During charai-sharief episode, the sabha
president organized the visit of national leaders including late sh. Arjun singh ji to the site and consoled
affected and made bridges with the opposing elements.
On the persistent demand of the public regarding the inclusion of dogri language in the 8 th scheduled of
the indian constitution, a composite agitation was started and subsequently a strong delegation of
hundreds of activities of the state staged protest dharna at delhi and with the active support of the
different political party stalwarts and other prominent leaders succeeded in accomplishing the mission.
The other significant achievements of dogra sadar sabha:-

Organizing duggar mela later name as jammu festival on large scale in whole of the duggarPradesh depicting the dogra culture.
Preservations of dogra heritage as follows:-
- - Succeeded in installing the bust of raja Jamboolonchan (founder of Jammu City) an apostle of communal amity
  - Establishing Dogra art museum in Mubarak mandi complex.
  - Got refurbished the old buildings in the Mubarak mandi complex housing the rich
    archives where more than 8lacs files have been preserved and public library where
    more than 23 thousand books are kept.
  - Succeeded in getting Mubarak mandi jammu heritage society constituted (an autonomous body) with the chief minister of the state of chairman & president dogra
    sadar sabha as vice chairman of the governing body for renovation/conservation of this
    prestigious heritage.
  - Succeeded in hundreds of crores of rupees sanctioned by the union government for the
    conservation of this historic heritage.
  - Establishment of veer bhoomi park(dedicated to the valiant soldiers of the soil) with the
    cost crores of rupees on the national highway samba.
  - Preservation of historical monuments like forts and palaces at different places including
    border districts of poonch and rajouri.
Striving for the cause of people of the state in general and duggar Pradesh in particular:-

a) Honouring the dogra stalwarts is the annual features of the sabha. World renowned
b) Succeeded in enhancing the remuneration and emowering of
dogra artists like sh. Shiv kumar sharma amd ustad allah rakha khan(santoor & tabla
maestros) & smt. Padma sachdeva (dogri poetess) were honoured for the promotion of
art and culture.
