A general body meeting of the All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) was held at the Dogra Sadar Sabha Bhawan on the 6th November 2016.
Opening the meeting the Co-convener Shri Abdul Majid gave a review of activities during the month of October. He briskly covered the visit by the strong 22 member AJCSF delegation to New Delhi and its deliberations with the Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaiteley, Defence minister Shri Manohar Parikar and MP Dr Karan Singh. All aspects of the J&K state, border areas, Kashmir unrest were discussed in detail.
He also apprised the meeting that he along with some members of the AJCSF visited Srinagar and established contacts with Hurriyat and other prominent leaders to coordinate a civil society joint meeting for establishing peace there. He was hopeful that such meetings may be held in future also when the situation improves.
The Convener Th. Gulchain Singh Charak apprised the meeting that a core group of 19 members has been formed for day to day functioning. Covering details of New Delhi visit he said that what emerged as a crux of their projection was formation of the autonomous regional councils for Jammu, Kashmir and ladakh and functioning of both summer and winter secretariats simultaneously on permanent basis. The same views were endorsed by Dr Karan Singh and announced publically when he visited Jammu on Maharaja Gulab Singh Jayanti on 21st October, 2016.
Th. Gulchain Singh along with the members of the delegation of AJCSF also spelled out details of their meeting with the Dy CM Shri Nirmal singh and brought out the point regarding the hardship faced by Jammu population due to blockade of road in front of civil secretariat was projected to him and also given in a memorandum, which was followed by a protest march and dharna. A Sub-committee headed by Sh. Abdul Majid the Co-convener of the Forum has also been formed to take up the matter with the leaders of various political and social organizations and chalk out the further line of action in this regard. He informed that another meeting is likely to be held shortly with the CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti.
Members present, noted with great concern that the barricades have been erected in front of the civil secretariat and insisted that immediate steps are required to undo this discriminatory injustice and assured that they are all united in the resolve to go to any extent to mitigate the avoidable uncalled for hardship to people of Jammu. Re-iterating their resolve they said that if their request of removing the barrier is not heeded then the AJCSF in conjunction with Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) may launch a strong sustained agitation till the injustice to the peace loving Jammuiets is not mitigated. This has caused great hardship to college and school students, pilgrims, women, the sick, the grieved carrying their dead besides inconvenience to commuters, tourists, hawkers, rehriwalas and porters.
Members took strong exception to the delay in completion of various projects and wanted the RAPDRP scheme to be monitored for time bound completion. The PDD has failed to complete the metering of localities and barely 50 percent metering has been done; thus causing power cuts for load shedding even in the metered areas due to uncontrolled consumption by the remaining 50 percent.
All members observed two minutes silence to pay homage to the departed souls of Ex CM Shri Mangat Ram Sharma, Mrs Indu Gupta w/o Late Shri OP Gupta, Late Sh. Sadhaya Arora S/o Ramesh Arora (Advocate)MLC, and all the victims and soldiers who died due to Pakistani firing in continued blatant ceasefire violations. The meeting was attended by G. S Slathia-IPS, K.L Bhagat, Dr K.K Sandotra, Chhatter Singh, Madan Rangila, Ravi Singh Slathia, N.D Rajwal, Parshotam Thapa, Prem Sagar Gupta, Janak Khajuria, Madan Lal Bhagat, Kamal Singh-Co-Convener District Rajouri, Raghbir Chander Gupta, OM Parkash Gupta & Dinesh Maini. ,
