The statements of the Prime Minister Narender Modi after breaking his long silence over Kashmir, the visit by Home Minister Shri Raj Nath Singh and urgings of the J& K chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti are welcome signs. However all three have not been able to break away from the traditional grip of ‘K’ centric politics; thereby ignoring the vast bigger regions of Jammu and Ladakh which are indirectly suffering the curses of resultant non-governance, apathy and continue to get ignored. The snapping of all commercial activity in Kashmir has put the Jammu region at greater loss, by held back payments and sweared further supply lines, Tourism, transport etc.
AJCSF held a Press Conference at Jammu on Wednesday, the 10th of Aug 2016. The Forum expressed deep concern over the continued losses of human lives in an unprecedented long drawn period of curfew/Bandhs that has now lasted over a month, paralyzing life ending into chaos and persistent state of suffering for the poor masses. The people who have already been pushed to the wall for losses of their daily earnings and children deprived of education are frustrated, dejected and hapless.
The All Jammu Civil society convener Th. Gulchain Singh Charak called upon the Kashmir Civil society exhorting them to wake up to the realities and not to fall prey to the evil designs of inimical forces who want to ruin the Kashmiri poor children to have in hand cheaply available ‘Gun Fodder’. The threats from outside the State be understood in that light and condemned instead of preparing another young generation as ‘gun fodder’ for their wicked designs.
The Jammu region is suffering as an evil impact that has overcast the skies on Kashmir. The Business, trade, tourism and the religious pilgrimages have vastly suffered this season with evil time planned attacks by the terror groups waiting in arms.
People in the rural areas are in bad shape, youth is frustrated and drug menace is griping the whole region. Our business community is suffering from huge losses of thousands of crores Rupees for no fault of theirs while the IT and other tax collectors are harassing the Jammu traders for making up their ‘target’ collections. The members in one voice expressed their solidarity with each other rising above any political, communal or regional aspiration and took a firm resolve not to allow the sparks of trouble to ignite in Jammu.
The Forum exhorts all the meaning full people of Jammu province to rise, awake and raise the united voice against the injustice being meted out with them. Let us sit together and think which type of future we are planning for our coming generation.
Ms Mehbooba Mufti the chief Minister of the State has publically said that there is no capable leadership in Jammu region who can address the aspiration of this region. Is she isolating herself also to ‘K’ only and washing her hands off the Jammu/ Ladakh regions?
The Jammu region has also suffered as the government is at a standstill with offices closed in Kashmir and no alternative arrangements for Jammu to at least clear the backlog by opening the parts of summer secretariat in Jammu. The problems of Jammu are multiplied for no indulgence and are therefore stake holders in arriving at any vital decisions. The Jammu based projects, heritage care and even the infrastructure of the newly approved prestigious institutes are all hanging in fire.
The Forum welcomed the idea of a dialogue as proposed by the Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti. However, the dialogue has to be with the stake holders. The dialogue has to be with the civil societies of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The political leadership of the State have already played their cards and proved defunct, non-governing and adding fuel to fire by loose statements rather than dousing the fire.
The Forum also decided to go to district, Tehsil and Halka levels to re-built confidence, strengthen bondage of love and communal harmony.
The other prominent persons present during the press conference were S/Sh Abdul Majid- Co-Convener, Annil Suri- General Secretary, G. A Khawaja – Add. General Secretary, Yash Paul Gupta, Maj. Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Neeraj Anand, OM Parkash Gupta, Amanat Ali Shah, Brig. M. S. Jamwal (Retd.)Raghbir Gupta, V. K Grover, Madan Rangila, Janak Khajuria, Mohd.
