Bishnah unit of Dogra Sadar Sabha J&K celebrated the76th Republic Day at its office headquarter at Bishnah. Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and President DSS unfurled the National Flag and pledged to protect unity and integrity of the whole country in general and of our trouble torn J&K UT in particular. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Charak extended his warm greetings and felicitations to the people including Numberdars/ Chowkidars Sarpanchs and Panchs of Tehsil Bishnah and Arnia present and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and to all those who laid down their lives for freedom of our motherland. The former minister also recalled the services of all those including the farmers, scientists, engineers, doctors, teachers, artists, youths who were instrumental in preserving the democratic values enshrined in our constitution and also creating a society based on justice, equality and brotherhood. Sh. Charak also expressed concern over the paucity of funds for desilting and cleaning historical Ranbir canal which provides irrigational facilities to the entire border belt of R S Pura , Bishnah and Arnia area and appealed to the authorities to do everything possible so that the water reaches to the tail end.
Later the resolutions with regard to the restoration of statehood in J&K, declaration of heritage status to Ranbir Canal and its proper desilting, opening of Degree college at Arnia, checking of drug menace in the border belt and allotment of land for Degree college Bishnah which is still running in makeshift arrangement for the last ten years were passed unanimously on the occasion.
Besides ex-Sarpanches, Panches, Numberdars/ Chowkidars, a large number of other prominent citizens participated in the function. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were Adv. DSS, Gambhir Dev Singh, Vice President DSS, Mandan Bhagat, Gen Secretary Bishnah, Dr. Raghbir Singh Ex- Sarpanch, Roop Lal Retd Principal, Thoru Ram Retd CEO,Rakesh Dogra, Surinder Kumar Retd Xen, Sub Rattan Lal (Retd)
Tea and Sweets were served among the participants after the function.
