Paying glowing tributes to Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Aashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Police Himanyun Muzamil Bhat who were martyred in gunfight with terrorists in Anantnag district and Rifleman Ravi Kumar of the Indian Army who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during an encounter with terrorists in Rajouri district, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, President, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir and former cabinet minister has once again asked the Government of India to take strong, effective and also diplomatic measures to completely wipe out Pakistan sponsored terrorism from Kashmir. Shri Charak lamented that unfortunately, the terrorism was once again trying to spread its tentacles in the peaceful Jammu region also.
Speaking at a press conference organised by Dogra Sadar Sabha at Dogra Hall, Jammu, Shri Charak said that mere condemnation of the acts of terrorism will not solve this problem. He reminded that the DSS has been repeatedly insisting on strengthening of intelligence network at the grassroots level by mobilization of the PRIs, chowkidars, numberdars and the common citizens also and taking them into confidence through appropriate means. He asked the government of India and the Union Territory to pay serious attention to this suggestion of the DSS in national interest and for safety and security of citizens of this country.
Shri Charak profusely hailed the security forces and the police for their bravery, sacrifices and selfless service to the nation and asked the Hon’ble Prime Minister to back up his words and resolutions of the Parliament with action to destroy the terror epicenters in Pakistan at the earliest and also take steps to retrieve Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the illegal occupation of Pakistan, for the country.
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a meeting of its core group to consider the appeals received from its POJK chapter under the DSS President and former J&K minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, The communication received from Shri Sajjad Raja was deliberated upon and Shri Charak revealed, “The letter with the following text is very clear and self- explanatory”. Quoting from the text of the letter by Sajjad Raja, he read as under:
“As you know, people of POJK (who are 99% Dogras ethnically) are on the roads these days, they are demanding to provide them Aatta, electricity and other basic necessities of life at affordable prices and to abolish undue taxes which Government of Pakistan and Government of so-called AJK have imposed on them. People of POJK are living a miserable life under Pakistani clutches and this situation has forced every citizen of the POJK to come on the road to protest for the provision of basic necessities of life.”
Shri Charak said, “Finding themselves helpless, Mr. Sajjad Raja, on behalf of the people of POJK has appealed to raise our voice in favour of the people of POJK and to: take up this issue with the Lieutenant Governor of J&K and with the Government of India and ask them to rescue the people of POJK who have been suffering under the Pakistani occupation for 76 years.”
The DSS also took note of the agitations by the Dogras living in POJK who are deprived of basic necessities of life and have been deprived the freedom of speech also and do not have any political power or position in administration. DSS urged the Hon’ble Lt Governor J&K Shri Manoj Sinha and the Government of India to show some concern towards the deprived population who are citizens of erstwhile J&K State. We still hold vacant seats for them in our J&K Legislative Assembly. They are being subjected to inhuman treatment, their woman are dishonoured and do not enjoy basic fundamental rights as available to us in India. All the benefits of Indian Constitution and various welfare schemes have not reached them. The POJK Dogras are keen to join the rest of J&K like us. DSS, therefore, supports the deprived POJK population and seeks help on humanitarian grounds as per the resolution, unanimously passed in the parliament during 1984 and take effective steps to retrieve our land and free our population from unlawful Pakistani control and captivity. Their miseries must be highlighted in all world forums to muster world support for this humanitarian cause. DSS also exhorts all Dogras organizations to rise above political, Communal and religious lines to help their brethren and take up their cause with all their might and sincerity. “As a nation we are morally bound to rescue and help our own citizens from unlawful Pakistani captivity and retrieve our land from illegal Pakistani occupation” said the former minister of J&K and President of DSS.
