DSS & AJCSF reiterate post 370/35A resolves Consolidate Jammu aspirations

 

In a press release convener All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) and president Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) Th. Gulchain Singh Charak reiterated the resolves of all the members from various political parties, religious and social groups who discussed various impacts and repercussions of bold decisions of the central government regarding abrogation of Article 370/ 35A and also the re-structuring of the J&K State.

 He gratefully admired the unique synergized configuration of Jammu leaders who on 17th August, 2019 jointly considered the sufferings of the Jammu region of the last seven decades peacefully deliberated on checks and measures for retaining identity of Dogras of all communities and development of this region that faced discrimination on all fronts and aspired to be one with the nation. They put their proposals together to be submitted to the J&K government and the GoI for consideration and necessary incorporation in future plans.

             They resolved to propose to the government, measures to safe guard the identity and interests of Dogras under provisions like Articles 371/372 that are protecting identity of Himachal Pradesh and the Eastern States. The distribution of academic seats, opportunities and jobs should be in an 80: 20 ratio favoring locals.

            The meeting proposed Statehood for Jammu and merger of POJK and granting all 24 assembly constituencies to the proposed state of Jammu. The elections to be held only after delimitation, rotation of reserved seats, SC/ST voter rights of Valmikis and West Pakistan refugees.   

 Alternatively, they demanded that the Jammu and Kashmir to have two separate secretariats in respective capitals in existing buildings to operate simultaneously round the year. They also demanded concerted efforts for the development of tourism, education and industrial sector, of Jammu, which has immensely suffered discrimination on all fronts.

            Warning against rumour mongering, the meet also appealed to the authorities to immediately lift all the restrictions imposed on the peaceful citizens of Jammu region and release all the activists including political who have been detained during the recent days.

     Former Minister and president DSS appealed to all political parties, social organizations and other activists of Jammu to work for these resolutions together in the interest of Jammu in the new arrangements and draw agreeable common voice and promote it from your own outfits. “The inter community brotherhood and respect to each other’s sensitivities must be retained”, he added.
