Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a virtual meeting of their executive body after the DSS President returned from Delhi. The incident under Police Station Bakshi Nagar, Jammu was discussed. As per the Ex-servicemen including a JCO (Gazetted Officer) and An Non Commissioned Officer, they were arrested for a minor offence of allegedly parking their Car in an area not designated for Parking when they had gone to give Lohri sweets to their relatives. They were taken to police Station on the night of 13/14 January, unlawfully detained for the night and subjected to manhandling and third degree torture,
The Army duo Subedar Suresh Kumar & Havildar Chander Shekhar who are brothers complained that their medical was influenced after the grave injuries and even release delayed after the grant of bail by competent authority by the Bakshi Nagar SHO Shri Azad Hussain Manhas. It seems laughable that the dedicated Army personnel have been slapped with charges of anti-national activities.
The DSS took strong note of the complaint and called for a thorough fare enquiry and action against the guilty. Th. Gulchain Singh said that such incidents in a sensitive border UT where our Army and Police work together is alarming and stern measures are required to curb such tendencies as reported from some other States also.
Maj Gen Sunita Kapoor, VSM, Col Dr Virendra Sahi, VrC of the ESM cell pointed out the Army & JKP have a healthy track record of working in unison and have faced many challenges and actions against the Pakistan sponsored proxy war together, hand in gloves as a team. Such an act may adversely impact the cohesive team working of the two disciplined grand forces. DSS calls for proper justice to the two Armymen who have given their best years of life in the defense, protection and security of the nation and J&K. They called for exemplary action against the high handed attitude if proved after a fair independent enquiry.
