The 127th birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh was celebrated by Dogra Sadar Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir (DSS) with great reverence and enthusiasm. It was the first celebration of its kindafter declaration of the day as an annual public holiday by the Union Territory administration.
A number of public representatives from all walks of life, irrespective of region, religion,community, caste and profession thronged DSS to pay homage to the illustrious ‘Son of the Soil’. Speakers appreciated
efforts of DSS for giving a befitting name to the auspicious day as Samajik Nyay Diwas. An appeal was made to the Government to ask all educational institutions and other government departments to celebrate the day. Poems and Dogri songs were rendered by renowned Dogra artists Randhir Singh Raipuria and C.S. Katal and beautiful Dogri Dance was presented by students of Dogra Law College to mark celebrations. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, Kavinder Gupta, Major Gen (Retd) G S Jamwal, former Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, former MLC Naresh Gupta, Col Karan Singh (Retd), Prem Sagar Gupta, Gambhir Dev Singh, Lt Gen (Retd) Rakesh Sharma, Amanat Ali Shah, Ajay Khajuria, Jagmohan Sharma and C M Sharma.
