DSS censures brutal and gruesome murder of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita
Stresses on need to remain vigilant, ensure sharper intelligence collection, keep security personnel on high alert
Jammu: Dogra Sadar Sabha today strongly condemned dastardly killing of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita by the militants in Anantnag. In a condolence meeting held here in premises of Sabha, President of Sabha Th. Gulchain Singh Charak along with prominent members of Sabha lambasted and condemned the brutal and gruesome murder of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita. They prayed to Almighty to grant peace to departed soul and enough strength to family members to bear this irreparable loss. Sh. Charak speaking on the occasion, demanded visible and concrete steps in effectively protecting the lives of innocent citizens and demanded probe to punish all those responsible for killing of Sarpanch. The gruesome incident should be seen as an attack on democratically elected representatives in Kashmir and Govt must fight it tooth and nail with all their positive powers united,” said Sh. Charak. He also demanded the elected KP representatives should be provided security and the government should declare ex-gratia for kin of slain Sarpanch.
Condemning Pakistan for fomenting terror in J&K, Sh. Charak regretted that despite the corona virus pandemic spreading widely in Pakistan and devastating its economy, its military-intelligence complex has not let go of its sponsorship of terror across the border. Be it through constant attempts at infiltration, stoking tensions across the Line of Control, or spreading fear through terror proxies in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Pakistan continues to seek to destabilise India, asserted Sh. Charak. He further maintained that Union Govt will have to remain vigilant, ensure sharper intelligence collection, keep its security personnel on high alert, and protect its citizens and political leaders in J&K. Along with stepping up its security preparedness, the government should also consider opening up the political space in Kashmir, opening channels of communication with all stakeholders who remain committed to India’s unity and believe in peaceful politics, and providing a road map for peace in J&K. Expanding the democratic space will strengthen the pro-India constituency in J&K, which in turn, will provide strong local political, intelligence and administrative networks to defeat terror, added Sh. Charak.
