Press Release on 25.07.2019
The Dogra Sadar Sabha held an extraordinary meeting at Sabha Bhawan under their president Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, where they received a delegation from District Ramban and listened to their vows. Many other social activists also presented their burning issues. It was felt that after the dissolution of Legislative Assembly and more so after the move of Durbar, to summer capital the Jammu region has been abandoned to God’s mercy. The occasional visit by the Advisors are not on a routine nor announced. Hence people at large do not find access and audience. There is little scope for a follow up track for a commoner.
The delegation of sub contractors working on four Lane project at NH44 on Road Nashri- Ramban stretch led by Shri Dharam Chand president DSS Ramban re-iterated their problems of held up payments by the Gammon India Co. An whoping amount of about 27.34 Cr is jointly due to 18 sub-sub contractors of Ramban area. They also brought out that meetings were held under the DC/ ADC Ramban where the representatives of Gammon India promised to make their payments by 20 July 2019. However, no payments are made to date. To make it worst, it appears that some new sub-sub contractors are being engaged who have also moved some machinery at the site of work. This is most distressing and unfair and the contractors want to meet the Hon’ble Governor or his advisors at the earliest.
A representative of Student’s Union once again highlighted the apathy of the state government in not providing the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota to the NEET qualified students of EWS category who have made it to requisite percentile. It has been made available to the whole country after the BJP got a big public mandate by announcing it. It is the Art 370 and the lackadaisical approach of the Babus that has so far denied it to J&K State aspirants. The 85 medical and 23 Dental Colleges seats allocated extra by the Medical Council of India may lapse soon, since the 2nd phase counseling is already going on without EWS category consideration. It is an irony, that in a State suffering from shortage of Doctors 108 medical seats are being wasted and denied to the deserving poor students of the EWS category.
There is little action to arrest the drug menace eating through the vitals of the Jammu, Border and Kandi area. The border area bunkers are not yet in place, while the Pakistan’s cross border shelling and ceasefire violations are unabated with one or two fatal casualties every week.
Even the limited rainfall exposed the poor drainage system of the Jammu city which may again get flooded under heavy rainfall/ cloud burst conditions. The compensation to the calamity losses to the farmers of Jammu region are yet to be paid in full. There were news reports the as many as 15 fresh Laws legislated by the Hon’ble Governor are yet to get implemented as implementation rules and orders are not framed by concerned departments. Same is the fate of many amendments issued to earlier laws. Is it a deliberation to punish people or let down the government efforts and functioning?
Former Minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak took strong exception for the attitude of political leaders of all parties who have enjoyed plump positions authority and perks in the state earlier have now divorced the cause of people who made them what they were. He exhorted all political Social and Civil Society groups to work for the cause of people unitedly and mitigate their problems.
The extraordinary meeting was attended by Prem Sagar Gupta, Col. Dr Virendra K. Sahi,VrC, Brig M. S. Jamwal, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Janak Khajuria and others besides the Ramban delegation headed by Sh. Dharam Chand President DSS Unit Ramban included Contractors Krishan Lal, Amjad Ali, Muzahir Ali, Sumit Sharma, Arvind Khajuria, Ravi Singh, Abdul Majid, Somdhar Singh, Gopal Singh, Kartar Nath, Massaber Ali, Suram Singh, Sartaj Ali, Niaz Ahmed, Basharat Ali, Krishan Ali, Mohd.
