The Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a special meeting of its working Committee under their president and former minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak at Sabha Bhawan, to pay rich tributes to the brave son of the nation Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and noted with relief his safe return in record time. The members denounced the Pakistani authorities for releasing his various videos on the social media including the doctored version of the last ‘extracted’ statement before his release; in total disregard to Geneva Conventions. The members held two minutes silence to pay homage to the CRPF troops martyred in the Pulwama carnage and the officers and men of various forces including Shaheed Aman Thakur Dy. SP, who made supreme sacrifice in various encounters in the last fortnight. He announced open hearted support to all the Vir Naris as a moral duty and extended full co-operation of the DSS. The former minister pointed out to the various attempts made by some sections to deliberately pollute the peaceful atmosphere and affectionate secular brotherhood of Jammu region. He insisted that such elements should be identified, isolated, cordoned, investigated and booked. There is no point in holding the whole city at ransom in a curfew, thereby punishing the pilgrims, hampering tourism, closing educational institutes during exams which delays results and impact chance of further admissions in the whole country. The children had no milk for a week as Gujjars could not move in, the daily wagers, small business men, porters, hawkers, Ponywalas were all driven to starvation.Th. Gulchain Singh Charak demanded that after the hill council for Ladakh, the next rational step is to function both summer and winter secretariats together at both places, since Jammu population suffer immensely for not being able to go to Srinagar due to prevailing law and order conditions and absence of administrative support there. He once again exhorted all politicians, veterans, prominent citizens and Civil Societies to come on one common platform to promote the cause of unity, peace, secular brotherhood and equitable development of Jammu region. He also urged upon the Govt. to make special arrangements for the education of children from border areas and provide a degree college for Arnia which is left out in the allocation in spite of being the largest border town of District Jammu. He also announced the annual feature of the “Dhiyan Dogren Dian” was delayed due to prevailing circumstances and assured that a fresh firm date will be announced soon. The meeting was attended by Col. Karan Singh Jamwal, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Prem Sagar Gupta, Col. Dr. Virendra K Sahi, VrC, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Virender Kumar Gupta, Santosh Magotra, Brig.
