In an extraordinary meeting of the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) and the All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) the President and members paid tributes to the martyred CRPF and Army/ Police personnel with special reference to the Dogra Muslim Nazir Ahmed. The president DSS Th. Gulchain Singh Charak said that when Punjab was on boil, it was Jammu region that stayed firm and united and is still doing that when the Kashmir Valley is under turmoil. However, there are elements from outside Jammu region that are trying to poison the peaceful Jammu atmosphere and create a communal divide. He exhorted all political, religious and social groups and the Bar Association and various youth organizations to come under one umbrella to save the Dogra region from a ruin. He invited and also offered full support and willingness to join any common platform where all like minded peace loving Jammuiets can get together. It were the Dogras of all communities from this region who jointly built this state and they have a combined responsibility to protect it from demolish, with all its ethnic components intact. There is dire need of identifying and isolating the bad elements who celebrated the carnage of duty bound CRPF personnel in transit and not in combat and also caused grave provocations by raising anti-India and Pro-Pakistani slogans. They could be boycotted, isolated, booked and acted upon under law. The situation at best demanded imposition of section 144. The imposition and continued curfew is punishing the law abiding nationalist population, tourists and pilgrims. It is adversely affecting the trade and commerce. It is also ruining the careers of students who are missing their exams and education, thus causing resentment and avoidable rage and angry reactions. The members cautioned that all Jammuiets are united and will not tolerate the vicious policy of dividing them to create Kashmir like situation. The members jointly appreciated the formation of Ladakh hill council and said now the time is ripe to take a decision to keep the J&K State secretariat operative in both summer and winter capitals simultaneously. Only some officers and ministers may have to move to and fro instead of a vast helpless population with no means either way. The meeting ended with a resolution to maintain peace, Dogra brotherhood and harmony in the Dogra region. They also called upon the local administration to isolate trouble spots and trouble makers and act upon them , lift the curfew that is causing great discomfort, harassment and punishing thousands of innocent tourists, students and poor daily wagers and small business community.
