In a climate of active divisive political forces, a special meeting of the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held at the Dogra Hall in the DSS complex under the chairmanship of Sabha President Th. It was attended by members from both these districts besides the DSS office bearers.
The meeting expressing their shock and grief over the tragic accident in which 17 Amarnath Yatries lost their lives and several injured, prayed to the Almighty God for resting their souls in peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved families to bear the loss.
The meeting also expressed great concern about the recent happenings of the state and held detailed deliberations. On the outset all members unanimously, in one voice, denounced the inhuman barbaric attack on the Shri Amarnathji pilgrims. Muslim members were in forefront to denounce the savage act and called it ‘un-Islamic’ and against the teachings of any religion and a crime against the humanity and Allah.

The President DSS and also Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal gave a brief on their London sojourn and interaction with the Dogra clan members from PoJK and explained activities in Europe and Gulf countries. Summing up the meeting, President DSS affirmed the unanimous firm resolve to uphold the basic secular culture and ethos of the DSS; as evolved by our founding fathers. The members in one voice also condemned the Chinese over-indulgence and expansionist misadventure in PoJK and Bhutan. Urging the Government of India to check the Chinese designs the DSS resolved not to buy Chinese goods as a protest against China.
Th. Gulchain Singh said that the DSS feels that despite various political dispensations there has been disturbed conditions, therefore, he reiterated the demand for the J&K Government to operate both summer and winter capitals, as it is not possible for public from Ladakh and Jammu regions to go and stay in Srinagar to get their even routine jobs done in the secretariat.
It was also noted with concern that local as well as national level media was aggravating the situation in Kashmir and bringing bad name by one sided biased reporting and projecting negativity and views of self styled ‘K’ specialists who have no clue of Kashmir, Kashmiriyat and the connected problems, goodwill, concerns and aspirations.
