Today the 31st of January, 2017 a meeting of Dogra Sadar Sabha, Tehsil- Khour, was held at Khour (Akhnoor) under the Chairmanship of Sh. Sukhdev Singh, President of DSS, Khour, Sh. Prem Sagar Gupta-General Secretary DSS, J&K, Sh. Janak Khajuria, Sh. K.P Singh and Sh. Ravi Singh Salathia were the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour respectively.
The meeting was attended by large number of Sabha workers, besides Numberdars, Chowkidars, Sarpanches, Panches and other prominent persons of the border area.
The speakers speaking on the occasion highlighted the following main issues confronted the people:-
Remuneration to the Numberdars and Chowkidars is not being paid on regular bases and the same are pending with Government for the last several months.
The members demanded that qualified unemployed physical teachers should be adjusted like the other qualified youth who are being absorbed in different departments like Rehbar-e-taleem & Rehbar-e-Zarayat.
Proper compensation of the land occupied by the defense purpose be paid to the owners on regular bases.
They also warned the political leaders opposing the announcement of gazetted holiday on the Birth anniversary of “Late Great Maharaja Hari Singh Ji”.
Since the people of the area have not been given ration cards, they demanded that a special team of officers be deputed for issuing the same after proper verification. The farmers who have lost everything including the crops in the flash floods about three years back have not been paid any relief up till now. The government should immediately take the necessary steps in this regard.
The members also decided to organize “Shaheedi Diwas” to honour the families of the martyrs belonging to tehsil Khour, who had laid down their lives for defending the country and the nation. In the end Sh. Prem Sagar Gupta, speaking on the occasion assured to take up the demands raised in the meeting with the concerned departments and will try to organize a special meeting with the concerned authorities for this purpose. He also advised the members of the tehsil Sabha to form more Shakha Sabhas after the enrolment of new members.
Sh. Janak Khajuria, Sh. K.P Singh and Sh. Ravi Singh Salathia speaking on the occasion said that time has come when all the Dogras should raise their voice unitedly against the discrimination being meted out to them in all spheres of life.
