DSS conducts cleanliness drive ahead of the historic 25th Chhari Yatra on APRIL 2, 2019. Purmandal Shrine is considered as one of the most revered pilgrimage centres by the Dogras and holds extraordinary significance as the last rites of people are performed here. This was stated by President Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust and Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) Th. Gulchain Singh Charak after the culmination of cleanliness drive held here on 2nd of April, 2019 in the Holy Devika (Gupt Ganga) and around the Purmandal Shrines ahead of 25th Annual Chhari Yatra which is scheduled to commence on April 4, 2019. The cleanliness drive was held under the patronage of Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust Gandhi Nagar in collaboration with Dogra Sadar Sabha J&K, Purmandal Utter Behni Shrines Development Committee, Dharmarth Trust and Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana. Hundreds of NSS volunteers of colleges viz, Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College besides teachers and students of govt. high secondary school Purmandal also participated in the cleanliness drive. Large number of prominent people of the area, officials of Samba Administration, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Nambardars and Chowkidars also enthusiastically participated in the “Swachhta Abhiyan”.Giving the detailed account of importance of the Purmandal Shrines, Sh. Charak informed that Holy Devika River flowing in the vicinity holds great importance in Dogra culture as the place is one of the most revered Duggar Tirath Sthals. He however, expressed deep concern and dismay over the phlegmatic approach of the people concerned with the management of this shrine pointing out the dismal condition of facilities being offered to the devotees especially the public convenience facility. He also disclosed that even after bringing the same into the notice of the concerned tourism development authority time and again nothing is being done in this regard, The public convenience complex is in shambles, nobody bothers to care for that. In a very tender manner, he appealed to the Dharmarth Trust, “Surinsar/Mansar tourism development authority” and the other agencies which are looking after the arrangement, to take note of the problems being faced by the devotees visiting the Shrine. He also appealed to the people of the State to participate in the 25th Annual Chhari Yatra commencing on April 4 followed by three days faire which will culminate on 6th of April the First Navratra and seek blessings of Gods and Goddesses. The Chhari Yatra will start from Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar after Pooja Archana at 9 AM on 4thApril, 2019. He also disclosed that lacs of people from whole of northern India visit these Shrines during these days, therefore the whole of district administration, specially, the police and the traffic authorities should make proper arrangements for the people during these days.Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were S.C. Rekhi, Kulbhushan Bali, Kapil Slathia, P.C.Gupta, Sat Pal Verma, Secretary Dharmarth Trust, Bansi Lal, Nodal Officer, Dr. Rajesh, Police and Principal and staff of local school.
